My Summer - Dalia Lopez

The best day of summer was when it was the first day of my cousin’s quincenera practice. A quincenera is a celebration when a Latina female celebrates her 15th birthday. That day I had went to my cousin’s house a little early because she had just came from México so I wanted to see her. Later when everyone started to come we all said hi to each other. We went to the back yard and my oldest cousin which is our teacher for the dance started to tell us the steps for the dance. For that day she just showed us the entrance because it was a little complicated for us to learn. There are 4 couples and the quincernera with her dance partner. We are all family. So we practiced for maybe like an hour because we had to wait for my uncle to come because he is the one who knows how to connect the computer with the speakers. After practice we sat down in a circle and started to talk. One of my cousins wanted to go to the movies and another one wanted to go eat but we didn’t have a ride to go. So then we thought until we got it. So then we got to cousins to drive. We went to Emeryville, we just went to eat. We ate at Fuddruckers. After that we just walked around went into some of the stores and then we went to go get desert at Cold Stones. We had lots of fun we sat down and just talked and laughed. We even saw a rat running around we got creped out. We left like at 11 something. We gave them a ride home. I went home really tired. Another fun day was when we went to the mall in a van and it was like 18 of us. Everyone would look at our van because the tires would look low. We were laughing at them because they probably thought that they didn’t treat their cars with enough air in their tires. We went to the mall and everyone was looking at us get off the van. When we got to the mall the guys went another way that the girls went. And somehow the guys went around the whole mall twice and the girls were barley in one store. After we were all done shopping we went to go eat at my cousins house we had a bar b.q.
